Seeking a Medical Assistant
Student who under the direction of the Provider, Medical Support Staff
Supervisor (MSSS), or designee, the Medical Assistant Student plays a crucial
role in providing patient care and excellent customer service within the scope
of practice for Medical Assistant Students.
Essential
Job Duties:
- Identifying patient healthcare
service requirements and addressing any gaps, while being mindful of
age-specific needs and protocols.
- Preparing for patient appointments
by reviewing and updating patient records before their arrival.
- Conducting patient interviews to
determine the reason for their visit (chief complaint) and documenting
this information in the electronic health record as per medical support
staff workflow protocols.
- Obtaining and recording patient
vital signs in accordance with the specific protocol for the patient's
age.
- Preparing the examination room and
the patient for the examination or procedure to be performed.
- Assisting the provider in medical
procedures under direct supervision.
- Reviewing patient treatment plans
and providing patient education and discharge instructions as directed by
the provider.
- Completing necessary paperwork for
recording purposes.
- Handling phone calls, taking
messages, and returning patient calls under the provider's direction.
- Ensuring cleanliness, stocking, and
preparation of examination rooms between patients in compliance with
infection control standards.
- Processing referrals and scheduling
appointments for specialized care and diagnostic procedures.
- Serving as a liaison between
providers and other care providers.
- Receiving patient reports and
delivering them to the appropriate provider.
- Documenting and maintaining records
of written procedures, care delivery, and relevant information regarding
patient care services.
- Adhering to infection control
policies and protocols.
- Ensuring the proper functioning of
medical equipment by performing preventive maintenance, following
manufacturer's instructions, reporting malfunctions, requesting repairs,
maintaining equipment inventory, and evaluating new equipment and
techniques.
- Safeguarding patient confidentiality
in accordance with HIPAA policies and procedures.
- Following the proper procedures for
immunization storage and handling.
- Proficiency in laboratory
point-of-care testing.
- Willingness to travel to various
locations as required.
Required
Minimum Qualifications - Education, Experience, Certificates & Licenses:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Proof of current enrollment and
successful completion of the first semester of a Medical Assistant Program
at an accredited college.
- Proof of completion of 180
externship hours.
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
certification required.
- Valid Fingerprint clearance card
required.
- Driver's License and Proof of
Insurance may be required if requesting mileage reimbursement.
