Locums Pediatric Hospitalist Physician

We are seeking an experienced Locums Pediatric Hospitalist Physician to provide inpatient coverage at a well-respected hospital in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. This opportunity offers a balanced schedule and the chance to care for newborns and pediatric patients in a collaborative, community-focused setting.

Position Details:

• Setting: Inpatient / Hospital-based – Pediatric and Newborn Care
• Schedule:
• Weekdays: In-house 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM, then out-of-house coverage with a 30-minute response time from 4:00 PM – 8:00 AM
• Weekends & Holidays: Provider may leave the hospital after completing patient care, maintaining out-of-house responsibility with a 30-minute response time
• Patient Census: Average 5–10 patients per 24-hour shift
• Admissions/Deliveries: Approximately one delivery or admission per 4 PM – 8 AM shift

Scope of Practice:

• Manage routine newborn and pediatric inpatients
• Perform procedures including:
• Lumbar punctures (LP)
• Emergency neonatal intubations
• Emergency umbilical catheter placements
• Bladder catheterizations
• Attend deliveries as needed and provide immediate neonatal care
• Collaborate with nursing staff, obstetricians, and neonatologists to ensure quality outcomes

Requirements:

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatrics
• Active New Hampshire medical license (or ability to obtain)
• BLS and PALS certifications required
• Experience with routine newborn and pediatric hospitalist duties preferred
