We are seeking a Senior Staff
Accountant to manage accounting and financial reporting, ensure compliance, and
support healthcare-specific financial operations in Phoenix, AZ. This role is ideal for a
detail-oriented professional experienced in general accounting, grant
management, and financial reporting within a healthcare or non-profit
environment.
This is a remote-friendly role
with occasional onsite requirements in Sierra Vista, AZ — approximately 3 times
per year, typically during the summer months. Travel and accommodations will be
coordinated accordingly.

Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including general
ledger maintenance, journal entries, reconciliations, and
month-end/year-end close.
- Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements,
budgets, and reports to support organizational decision-making.
- Oversee accounting activities for restricted grants,
federal funding, and healthcare-specific programs, ensuring GAAP and
regulatory compliance.
- Support internal/external audits, regulatory
reporting, and specialized healthcare accounting, including 340B pharmacy
financial activity and lease accounting.
- Assist with administration and optimization of
accounting and payroll systems.
- Oversee Accounts Receivable and Payroll functions to
ensure accurate billing and payroll processing.
- Provide guidance and support to finance staff on
accounting processes, reporting standards, and compliance matters.
- Stay current on accounting standards, healthcare
finance practices, and regulatory requirements; perform other duties as
assigned.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related
field
- 8+ years of experience in general accounting,
including full-cycle bookkeeping and financial statement preparation
- Strong working knowledge of GAAP accounting
principles
- Mandatory attendance at a one-week New Hire
Orientation in Sierra Vista, AZ
Preferred
- Experience with an FQHC, community health center, or
non-profit organization
- Experience managing restricted grants, federal
funding, and compliance reporting (UDS)
- Proficiency with enterprise-level accounting systems
(e.g., Sage Intacct)
- Knowledge of 340B pharmacy financial accounting and
compliance
