We are
seeking an experienced Locums Neurosurgery Surgery Nurse Practitioner or
Physician Assistant to join our team in a hospital-based, inpatient setting in
Detroit, MI. This role involves providing high-quality care to neurosurgical
and stroke patients at a Level 1 Trauma Center with a Comprehensive Stroke
designation. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of acute
neurosurgical and stroke emergencies, ICU care, and postoperative management. The key responsibilities for this role include
providing comprehensive inpatient care through rounding, consults, and
postoperative management in a hospital setting. The provider will work closely
with the neurosurgery team to manage acute neurosurgical cases, stroke
emergencies, and postoperative care, ensuring continuity of care aligned with
best practices for neurosurgical and stroke patients. The role also involves
performing patient assessments, accurately documenting interactions and care
activities in the eCare/Cerner EMR system and maintaining meticulous patient
records. This position requires night shifts from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., with
in-house coverage, as well as weekend shifts once every four weeks.
Qualifications:
- Must be Board Certified as a
Nurse Practitioner (ANCC, AANP) or Physician Assistant (NCCPA).
- Active Michigan medical license
is required.
- Certifications in Basic Life
Support (BLS), Emergency Neurological Life Support (ENLS), and National
Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) are required.
- Prior experience in neurosurgery
or a related field is preferred, with a solid understanding of ICU care
and postoperative management.
