Seeking a Physician Assistant - Neurology
to play a vital role in diagnosing, treating, and managing patients with
neurological conditions under the supervision of a physician. Responsibilities
include obtaining patient medical histories, performing physical examinations,
and ordering necessary lab tests and diagnostic procedures. The PA assesses
patient conditions, suggests differential diagnoses, and recommends appropriate
treatment plans. They prescribe medications, fluids, and diets (with physician
countersignature) and document patient progress by recording notes on tests,
findings, and treatments in patient charts.
Additional duties include performing
laboratory and minor surgical procedures, such as drawing blood, urinalysis,
starting IV solutions, suturing lacerations, and performing skin biopsies. The
PA also initiates consultations, schedules patients for special tests, and
counsels patients and their families on preventative care and treatment
options. They assist in managing neurological emergencies, conduct daily rounds
to monitor patient progress, and update physicians on condition changes.
Qualifications:
- BS Degree from an accredited
Physician Assistant Program.
- Minimum of three (3) years of
experience required for Senior Physician Assistant status.
- Must be licensed and currently registered as a Physician Assistant in New York State.
