Seeking a HR Labor Manager to be
responsible for overseeing and managing labor and employee relations within the
hospital. This includes adjudicating third-step grievances filed by collective
bargaining units, investigating and resolving internal and external employee
complaints, and counseling management on the appropriate use of corrective
discipline. The Labor Manager is tasked with preparing for and representing the
hospital in arbitration, unemployment, and government agency hearings, as well
as anticipating and recommending new HR policies and procedures. Additionally,
the role involves training line managers in labor and employee relations
skills, acting as a liaison between 1199SEIU and hospital departments, and
conducting departmental labor-management meetings. The Labor Manager also
supervises assigned labor and employee relations staff, conducts exit
interviews to assess employee retention trends, and negotiates settlements for
grievances and arbitration cases. Maintaining accurate records related to
grievances, arbitrations, agency complaints, discipline, and unemployment
claims is also a critical responsibility, along with promoting positive
employee relations through recognition programs and employee engagement
initiatives. Furthermore, the Labor Manager will consult with legal counsel as
needed, participate in union negotiations, and handle other duties and special
projects as assigned.
Compensation: $81,500 – $90,000
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
related experience required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a Human Resources role with direct responsibility for labor relations and employee relations management.
