Locums Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner

We are seeking an experienced Cardiothoracic Surgery PA or NP to join a dedicated surgical team in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on a locum tenens basis. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a collaborative cardiovascular and thoracic surgery environment providing care across the continuum—from pre-operative assessment to post-operative management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in CVTS procedures in the operating room
• Manage pre-op and post-op patients in both ICU and step-down units
• Perform procedures such as chest tube placement/removal, wound care, and invasive line management
• Conduct daily patient rounds, enter orders, and collaborate closely with attending surgeons
• Support all aspects of inpatient and outpatient cardiothoracic surgical care

Facility Details:

• Average Cases/Day: 2–3
• Operating Rooms Dedicated to CVTS: 3
• EMR Systems Used: Epic & Cupid

Requirements:

• Board Certification as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner
• Active Florida license
• ACLS and BLS certifications
• Prior experience in cardiothoracic surgery required
• Strong familiarity with surgical post-op management and ICU protocols
