The Chief Engineer is a key leadership
role responsible for the technical supervision, development, and operation of
the hospital’s engineering and plant operations functions. This individual will
oversee the hospital’s mechanical infrastructure, implement plans to optimize performance,
enhance operational efficiency, and maintain a safe, secure environment for
patients, staff, and visitors.
Responsibilities
- Oversee engineering operations and
ensure compliance with hospital standards.
- Develop and implement plans to meet
the hospital’s engineering needs.
- Manage staff hiring, training,
scheduling, and performance.
- Approve purchases and manage
inventory of supplies and tools.
- Ensure maintenance, inspection, and
permitting of boiler and chiller plant operations.
- Conduct facility rounds and assist
with general maintenance tasks.
- Support hospital emergency
operations and serve on the fire brigade.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent
required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Licensure/Certification:
- NYC Refrigeration Machine Operator
License
- NYC High Pressure Steam Operator
License
- EPA-approved Universal Certificate
for Refrigerant Handling
- Certificate of Fitness for Bulk
Gases
- Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience
in an engineering function within a hospital or healthcare facility.
