Locums Trauma Surgery Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner

We are seeking an experienced Locums Trauma Surgery Advanced Practice Provider (APP)—either a Physician Assistant (PA-C) or Nurse Practitioner (NP)—to support a Level II Trauma Center in Lima, Ohio. This high-acuity position involves providing overnight or 24-hour trauma and surgical support in collaboration with the hospital’s trauma and general surgery teams.

Position Overview:

• Trauma Level: Level II –
• Shifts:
• 12-hour shifts: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• 24-hour shifts: 7:00 AM – 7:00 AM
• Weekend Requirements: N/A
• On Call Requirements: None
• EMR System: Epic
• Average Patient Volume: 6–12 patients per shift 

Key Responsibilities:

• Respond to ED Trauma Alerts and participate in trauma resuscitations
• Perform surgical consultations and ER admissions
• Manage rapid response team calls and house codes
• Perform and interpret FAST exams at bedside
• Handle minor laceration suturing
• Facilitate discharges and care transitions
• Provide general surgery coverage:
• Weekdays: 5:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Weekends: Full 24-hour coverage 

Requirements:

• Board Certification: PA-C or NP
• Active Ohio license
• DEA Registration
• ACLS
• BLS
• PALS
• ATLS
