Contracted Anesthesiology Physician Veterans Affairs Medical Center

We are seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Anesthesiologist to join the team at the Syracuse VA Medical Center. This contracted position offers the chance to deliver high-quality, patient-centered anesthetic care to our nation’s Veterans in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. You’ll provide comprehensive perioperative care with the support of a mission-driven team and contribute meaningfully to the health and well-being of those who have served our country.

Location: Syracuse VA Medical Center – Syracuse, NY

Employment Type: Contracted

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM

Compensation: $250 – $270 per hour

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide anesthesia services for a broad range of surgical procedures
• Perform preoperative evaluations and develop anesthetic care plans
• Administer general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care
• Supervise and collaborate with Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs), residents, and students.
• Ensure patient safety and comfort throughout the perioperative period
• Participate in on-call coverage as scheduled
• Collaborate with surgeons, physicians, nurses, and other clinical staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with VA and federal regulations

Required Qualifications:

• U.S. citizenship (required for federal employment)
• MD or DO from an accredited medical school
• Completion of an ACGME-accredited residency in Anesthesiology
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Anesthesiology
• Active, unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state or territory

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience working with Veterans or in a federal healthcare setting
• Proficiency in regional anesthesia and multimodal pain management techniques
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
