System Medical Director – Emergency & Hospital Medicine

We are seeking a full-time experienced System Medical Director to oversee both Emergency Medicine and Hospital Medicine programs at our growing facility in Oakdale, California. This leadership position offers an exciting opportunity to shape clinical operations, mentor providers, and drive quality across two key service lines.


For ABIM or ABFM candidates, procedural experience and comfort managing patients in an open ICU setting is strongly preferred, especially as an open ICU may be implemented in the near future


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic and operational oversight for both EM and HM services
  • Lead provider recruitment, performance evaluation, and staff development
  • Serve as a clinical role model and mentor for EM and HM physicians and APPs
  • Collaborate with hospital administration to drive quality, efficiency, and patient satisfaction metrics
  • Ensure regulatory and clinical compliance across both service lines
  • Help prepare the clinical team for potential expansion of ICU services
  • Maintain a clinical presence through scheduled shifts

Clinical Expectations and Compensation:

  • Emergency Medicine Track (ABEM)
  • Clinical Pay: $275 – $285/hour
  • Clinical Shifts: 120 hours/month preferred, but flexible
  • Administrative Stipend: $100,000+ annually
  • Hospital Medicine Track (ABIM or ABFM)
  • Clinical Pay: $2,000/shift
  • Clinical Shifts: 15 shifts/month preferred, but flexible
  • Administrative Stipend: $100,000+ annually

Requirements:

  • MD or DO with active California medical license (or ability to obtain)
  • Board certified in Emergency Medicine (ABEM), Internal Medicine (ABIM), or Family Medicine (ABFM)
  • Minimum of 3 years of post-residency clinical experience
  • Proven leadership experience within a hospital-based setting
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
  • Open ICU or procedural experience preferred for IM/FM candidates
