Locums Neurological Surgery Physician

We are seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Neurosurgeon for a locum tenens opportunity in Alexandria, Louisiana. This position offers 12 shifts per month covering inpatient neurosurgical services and unassigned ER call at a Level II Trauma Center. The assignment is initially for 3 months, with the possibility of extension or ongoing coverage.

Position Details:

• Duration: 3 months, with potential for ongoing need
• Schedule:
• 12 shifts per month
• 24-hour call coverage required for unassigned ER and inpatient neurosurgery service
• Post-operative clinic coverage also required
• Setting: Hospital-based (Inpatient)
• Trauma Designation: Level II Trauma Center
• Average Daily Volume: ~10 patients
• EMR: eClinicalWorks

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 24-hour unassigned emergency room call coverage
• Perform inpatient neurosurgical consults, procedures, and follow-up
• Manage trauma, spine, and cranial cases as appropriate
• Conduct post-op clinic visits for surgical patients
• Collaborate with hospital staff and maintain timely documentation

Requirements:

• Bord Certified or Board Eligible in Neurological Surgery – Required
• Active Louisiana medical license – Required
• DEA & Controlled Substance Registration (CSR) – Required
• Prior experience with inpatient neurosurgery and trauma call preferred
