We are
seeking an experienced and confident Board-Certified Neurosurgery Physician
Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to provide locum tenens night shift coverage at
a busy, hospital-based neurosurgical service in Colorado Springs, CO. This role
includes in-house call and requires immediate response to emergent cases. A PA
with first assist capabilities and a strong background in trauma neurosurgery
is highly preferred.
Key
Responsibilities:
- Provide overnight coverage for
neurosurgical patients, including trauma and non-trauma cases
- Respond to emergent neurosurgical
situations in-house during shift (sleep room available if needed)
- First assist in the operating
room for emergent and urgent cases
- Perform patient assessments,
place orders, monitor neurological status, and consult with the
neurosurgeon on call
- Support ICU and floor teams with
post-op management, documentation, and ongoing care coordination

- Setting: 100%
hospital-based (Level II Trauma Center)
- Shifts per Month: Up to 20, as
needed
Preferred
Procedures & Skills:
- General neurosurgery (adult and
trauma)
- Cerebrovascular procedures (open
and endovascular)
- Carotid or vertebral artery
surgery
- Aneurysm clipping
- Spinal surgery with and without
instrumentation
- Placement of ICP monitors
Requirements:
- Board Certified Physician
Assistant or Nurse Practitioner
- Active Colorado License or Active
IMLC
- Experience in neurosurgery and
trauma strongly preferred
- Must be comfortable working
independently overnight
- Must have current ACLS and BLS
(preferred)
- First assist certification or extensive OR experience strongly desired
