Locums Cardiovascular Diseases Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to provide locum tenens coverage in a Cardiovascular ICU in Peoria, IL. The ideal candidate will manage complex cardiac post-operative patients with expertise and independence, handling a variety of advanced procedures and critical care responsibilities.

In this role, you will provide comprehensive care for a robust cardiac post-operative ICU, managing a patient census of 8 or more. Responsibilities include safely managing ventilators, vasopressors, inotropes, medications, and arrhythmias, as well as advanced cardiac devices such as VV/VA ECMO, IABP, Impella, post-transplant cases, and VAD. You will perform critical procedures, including central line and arterial line insertion, chest tube insertion and removal, intubations, and effectively managing pacing wires, sternotomy sites, and EVH sites. Collaboration with the multidisciplinary ICU team will be essential to ensure optimal patient care and outcomes. This role requires a high level of procedural competence and the ability to independently manage complex cases in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications:

• Active Illinois (IL) state license.
• Certified as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA).
• Board Certified.
• Current DEA license.
• Certifications: ACLS and BLS.
• Experience in a cardiovascular ICU with advanced procedural competence is highly preferred.
