Director, Nursing Emergency Department

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Nursing for the Emergency Department to lead our team in Brooklyn, NY. The Director will be responsible for identifying, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating nursing standards of practice and operational quality improvement activities. This leadership role oversees all human resource management, staff development, and educational initiatives to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced emergency department environment.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Provide overall leadership, direction, and administration of nursing services in the Emergency Department.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate nursing standards of practice to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and hospital policies.
  • Lead and support quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
  • Manage recruitment, retention, performance evaluation, and ongoing development of nursing staff.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, effective, and compassionate patient care.
  • Oversee staff education, training programs, and competency development.
  • Act as a mentor and role model for clinical leadership within the Emergency Department. 

Qualifications:

 

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing school with a BSN required.
  • Master’s degree in Nursing or related field, or minimum of ten (10) years of relevant administrative/supervisory experience required.
  • Doctorate preferred.
  • Minimum ten (10) years of nursing experience, with at least five (5) years in a leadership role within the emergency department.

  • Current New York State RN License
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Pediatric Care After Resuscitation (PCAR)
  • Trauma Care After Resuscitation (TCAR)
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
  • Certified in Emergency Nursing (CEN)
  • Certified in Pediatric Emergency Nursing (CPEN)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
  • Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner (SAFE)
  • Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE)
  • Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC)
