We are
seeking an experienced Locums Cardiovascular Surgery Physician Assistant (PA-C)
to provide weekend and on-call coverage at a hospital in Atlantic City, New
Jersey. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cardiothoracic
surgery, particularly in Endoscopic Vein Harvesting (EVH) and first-assist
procedures. This role involves both operative and inpatient responsibilities,
requiring clinical expertise, autonomy, and the ability to work collaboratively
with surgeons and multidisciplinary teams.

Key
Responsibilities:
- Assist in Cardiac Surgery: Serve as first
assist in the OR for cardiac surgical procedures.
- Perform Procedures: Conduct
vascular tissue retrieval, endoscopic vein harvesting, and chest tube
insertions.
- Inpatient Management: Perform daily
rounds, monitor postoperative patients, and manage pre- and post-op care.
- Coordination of Care: Collaborate
with attending surgeons, nursing staff, and other specialists to ensure
optimal patient outcomes.
- Clinical Duties: Diagnose and
treat illnesses, order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe
medications, and manage wound care including suture removal.
- Documentation: Maintain
thorough and timely documentation in the patient’s medical record.
Requirements:
- Certification: Current NCCPA
certification
- Licensure: Active New
Jersey Physician Assistant license
- CSR: Controlled
Substance Registration required
- Experience: Minimum of 2–3
years of cardiothoracic surgery experience, including demonstrated
proficiency in Endoscopic Vein Harvesting (EVH) and first assist
responsibilities
- Skills: Strong
clinical judgment, surgical precision, and excellent communication and
coordination abilities
