We are seeking an experienced Locums Orthopedic Surgery Nurse Practitioner or Physician
Assistant to join a collaborative orthopedic team in Coos Bay, OR. The ideal provider will be comfortable managing pre- and
postoperative orthopedic patients, assisting in surgery, and providing
continuity of care in both inpatient and outpatient settings. This position
includes scheduled weekday shifts with rotating night and weekend call
coverage.
Key
Responsibilities:
- Provide preoperative and
postoperative patient care in collaboration with orthopedic surgeons.
- First assist in orthopedic
surgical procedures as needed.
- Conduct inpatient rounds, manage
consults, and perform follow-up assessments.
- Evaluate, diagnose, and manage a
variety of musculoskeletal conditions.
- Order and interpret diagnostic
imaging, lab work, and other relevant tests.
- Educate patients and families
regarding procedures, recovery expectations, and follow-up care.
- Participate in call rotation,
including one to two nights per week and every third weekend.
- Maintain accurate and timely
documentation in the medical record.
Schedule
& Call:
- Shift Options: 4x10-hour
shifts or 5x8-hour shifts per week
- Call Requirements: 1–2 nights per
week and every 3rd weekend

Requirements:
- Certification: Board
Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA-C)
- Licensure: Active Oregon
license (required)
- Experience: Prior
orthopedic surgery experience preferred
- Skills: Strong
surgical assisting and clinical assessment skills
