Locums Pediatric Hospitalist Physician

A facility in Roseburg, OR is seeking a Locums Pediatric Hospitalist Physician to provide 24-hour call coverage with daily rounding. This role primarily supports a Level II nursery, with minimal pediatric inpatient volume. The provider will handle newborn care, admissions, and inpatient rounding, with limited callbacks and no requirement to attend deliveries.

 

Schedule & Coverage

 

• Shift: 24-hour call (7 AM – 7 AM)
• Rounding: 8 hours of rounding daily during call shift
• Weekends: Included as part of the schedule
• Call Back: Minimal

Patient Volume & Unit Details

 

• Peds Unit: 6 beds
• Average Census: ~2 pediatric patients/day
• Newborns:
• Daily Average: 4–6
• Admissions: 2–4 newborn admits/day
• Pediatric Admits: Typically 0–1 per day
• Nursery Level: Level II
• 18-bed ward; majority of work takes place in the nursery
• No need to attend births—provider evaluates and treats neonates post-delivery

 

Responsibilities

 

• Daily pediatric and newborn rounding
• Newborn exams, stabilization, and treatment
• Pediatric inpatient care (low volume)
• Nursery management
• Admission and discharge responsibilities

 

Requirements

 

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatrics
• Active Oregon medical license
• Active DEA
• Availability listed at time of name clear
• Experience with Level II nursery and pediatric inpatient care preferred
