scholarly activity in Eastern, WV. The Regional Chair of the Department of Family Medicine
provides strategic and operational leadership for all departmental functions,
fostering a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment that supports
outstanding patient care, education, research, and service.
Responsibilities:
The Regional Chair is responsible for the overall clinical, educational,
research/scholarship, and service missions of the Department of Family
Medicine. This role ensures the highest quality of care and consistency in
clinical standards while advancing the department’s academic and operational
goals. The Chair will promote interdisciplinary collaboration and cultivate an
environment in which innovation, teamwork, and excellence are valued and
encouraged.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership and
administrative oversight for the Department of Family Medicine.
- Ensure delivery of high-quality,
patient-centered clinical care and consistent standards of practice across
the region.
- Lead and support educational programs
for medical students, residents, and faculty.
- Promote and support scholarly activity,
research, and academic productivity within the department.
- Foster interdisciplinary collaboration
to advance clinical, educational, and research excellence.
- Mentor faculty and support faculty
development, recruitment, and retention.
- Represent the department within the
institution and the broader academic and healthcare community.
Allocation of Time:
- Administrative: 50%
- Clinical and Educational: 50% (variable
based on departmental needs)
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of
Osteopathy (DO) from an accredited medical school.
- Board Certified by the American Board of
Family Medicine with active participation in the continuing certification
program.
- Hold or be eligible to obtain an
unrestricted medical license in the State of West Virginia.
- Current academic appointment at the
Associate Professor or Full Professor level.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of clinical
practice experience.
- Minimum of three (3) years of
administrative leadership experience in an academic medical center or
large healthcare system preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in teaching
medical students and residents.
