We are seeking an
experienced Vascular Surgery Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join
a dynamic inpatient surgical team in Syracuse, NY. This locum tenens position
provides the opportunity to work in a high-acuity, inpatient-only setting with a
collaborative team of surgeons, nurses, and support staff.
Shift & Schedule:
- 12-hour shifts with flexible scheduling,
including days, nights, evenings, and weekends
- Call: 1-2 days per week, overnight
emergency OR call (taken from home)
- Full-time availability preferred
Practice Setting:
- Inpatient only, no clinic
responsibilities
- Average service census: 15-20 patients,
rounding on 3-5 per day
- Documentation: Epic EMR
Responsibilities:
- Conduct pre-op physical exams and assess
patient conditions
- Round on inpatient vascular surgery
patients, coordinate care, and communicate with the healthcare team
- Diagnose and treat illnesses within
scope of practice
- Order, interpret, and follow up on tests
and labs
- Assist intraoperatively as first
assistant, including removal of dialysis catheters
- Perform procedures such as suture
removal and post-op care
- Prescribe medications as appropriate and
coordinate follow-up care
Qualifications:
- Active NY Nurse Practitioner or PA
license
- Board certification or eligibility
(NCCPA for PA; AANC for NP)
- ACLS and BLS certification
