Locum Tenens

We are seeking an experienced Vascular Surgery Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join a dynamic inpatient surgical team in Syracuse, NY. This locum tenens position provides the opportunity to work in a high-acuity, inpatient-only setting with a collaborative team of surgeons, nurses, and support staff.

 

Shift & Schedule:

 

  • 12-hour shifts with flexible scheduling, including days, nights, evenings, and weekends
  • Call: 1-2 days per week, overnight emergency OR call (taken from home)
  • Full-time availability preferred

 

Practice Setting:

 

  • Inpatient only, no clinic responsibilities
  • Average service census: 15-20 patients, rounding on 3-5 per day
  • Documentation: Epic EMR

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Conduct pre-op physical exams and assess patient conditions
  • Round on inpatient vascular surgery patients, coordinate care, and communicate with the healthcare team
  • Diagnose and treat illnesses within scope of practice
  • Order, interpret, and follow up on tests and labs
  • Assist intraoperatively as first assistant, including removal of dialysis catheters
  • Perform procedures such as suture removal and post-op care
  • Prescribe medications as appropriate and coordinate follow-up care

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Active NY Nurse Practitioner or PA license
  • Board certification or eligibility (NCCPA for PA; AANC for NP)
  • ACLS and BLS certification
