We are
seeking an experienced Cardiovascular Surgery Physician Assistant to provide
locums coverage at a Level II Trauma Center in Lima, Ohio. This role includes
inpatient rounding, surgical assisting, and on-call responsibilities,
supporting a busy cardiovascular surgery service.
Schedule
& Call Requirements
- Scheduled Hours: Monday–Friday,
8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- On-Call Requirements:
- Evening and weekend call
required
- Call-back responsibilities
during evenings and weekends
- Weekend Coverage: Yes
- Call Ratio: Approximately 7–10
days of call per month
Patient
Volume
- Average number of patients per
day varies depending on surgical volume and acuity
Clinical
Responsibilities
- Assist in cardiovascular surgical
procedures
- Inpatient rounding and
post-operative management
- Pre-operative physical
examinations
- Suture removal
- Order diagnostic tests and labs
- Write prescriptions
- Chest tube insertions
- Thoracentesis
- Participate in call coverage and
urgent patient evaluations as needed
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Physician
Assistant program
- NCCPA certification required for
Physician Assistants
- Active Ohio license or
willingness to obtain
- Current BLS and ACLS
certifications
- Prior cardiovascular or
cardiothoracic surgery experience preferred
