Locums Cardiovascular Surgery Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA)

We are seeking an experienced Locums Cardiovascular Surgery Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to provide inpatient coverage in a high-acuity CVICU. This role involves autonomous management of post-operative cardiovascular surgery patients in a collaborative, hospital-based environment.

Schedule & Shifts

• Shift Length: 12-hour shifts
• Shift Options:
• Days: 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM
• Nights: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM
• Swing: 3:00 PM – 3:00 AM
• Coverage: Weekdays and weekends
• Weekend Requirements: As needed
• Call: No call required

Patient Volume

• Average Census: Approximately 12 patients per shift

Key Responsibilities

• Provide autonomous, comprehensive care to adult CVICU patients
• Manage post-operative cardiovascular and cardiothoracic surgery patients
• Perform advanced cardiovascular monitoring and clinical assessments
• Collaborate with cardiovascular surgeons, intensivists, nursing staff, and ancillary teams
• Ensure accurate and timely documentation using Epic EMR

Qualifications

• Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with Cardiovascular Surgery or CVICU experience
• Board Certification:
• NP: AANP
• PA: NCCPA
• Active Michigan license
• BLS and ACLS certification
• Acute Care–trained and certified
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-acuity ICU setting
