Locums Orthopedic Surgery Physician

We are seeking an experienced, Fellowship-Trained, Board-Certified Orthopedic Surgery Physician to provide locums inpatient and call coverage across two affiliated facilities in the Waterloo–Cedar Falls area. This assignment is strictly hospital-based with no clinic responsibilities, supporting a busy orthopedic service serving patients of all ages.

• Coverage Type: Inpatient and on-call coverage
• Weekend Coverage: Yes
• On-Call Requirements: Yes
• Clinic Duties: None (hospital-based only)

Patient Volume & Population

• Average Daily Census: 10–20 patients across both locations
• Patient Population: All ages
• Consistent inpatient orthopedic volume

Responsibilities

• Inpatient orthopedic consultations and management
• Surgical coverage as indicated
• Daily rounding on admitted orthopedic patients
• On-call coverage for orthopedic emergencies
• Collaboration with nursing, anesthesia, and ancillary teams
• Accurate and timely documentation in Epic

Qualifications

• Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery
• Fellowship trained (Orthopedic Surgery)
• Active Iowa medical license or Active IMLC (Letter of Qualification required at name clear)
• Proven experience in inpatient orthopedic surgery coverage
• Comfortable managing a full scope of hospital-based orthopedic cases
