Locums Neurosurgery Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner – Willing to Train

We are seeking a locums Physician Assistant (PA-C) or Nurse Practitioner (NP-C/AGACNP) with experience in neurosurgery to join a dedicated neurosurgical team in Rapid City, South Dakota. This is a full-time locums opportunity that includes both inpatient and outpatient responsibilities, offering a rewarding role in a collaborative and advanced surgical environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• First assist in neurosurgical procedures (cranial, spine, trauma cases)
• Perform inpatient rounding, admissions, post-op care, and discharges
• Conduct outpatient neurosurgery clinic visits and follow-up care
• Respond to ER and inpatient consults as needed
• Work collaboratively with neurosurgeons, OR staff, and hospital teams
• Accurately document patient encounters in the EMR 

Requirements:

• Licensed PA-C or NP in South Dakota (or ability to obtain) – Required
• Board Certification through NCCPA (for PA) or AANP/ANCC (for NP) – Required
• Experience as First Assist in neurosurgery – Required
• Strong clinical skills and ability to work autonomously
• BLS and ACLS – Required
• Previous neurosurgical or surgical critical care experience – Highly preferred
