Seeking a Locums Cardiovascular Surgery Physician in Lufkin, TX to provide ongoing 24-hour call coverage. This opportunity is ideal for a fellowship-trained cardiovascular or cardiothoracic surgeon who is comfortable managing inpatient cardiovascular surgical patients, handling emergent surgical needs, and participating in call coverage within a collaborative hospital environment.

Coverage is needed beginning June 26, with additional ongoing opportunities available based on the permanent physician’s schedule.

Position Details

• Coverage Dates: Starting 6/26 at 7:00 AM through 7/6 at 7:00 AM

• Shift Type: 24-Hour On-Call Coverage
• Shift Hours: 7:00 AM – 7:00 AM
• Weekend Coverage: Required

Clinical Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient cardiovascular surgical coverage and call services
• Evaluate and manage cardiovascular surgery patients
• Perform emergent and urgent cardiovascular surgical procedures as needed
• Collaborate with hospital staff, surgical teams, and critical care providers
• Participate in postoperative management and patient rounding
• Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation within the EMR system

Patient Volume

• Average daily patient volume: 10–15 patients

Callback Expectations

• Average weekday callback hours: approximately 5.36 hours
• Average weekend callback hours: approximately 4.7 hours

Qualifications

• MD or DO required
• Board Certified or truly Board Eligible in Cardiovascular Surgery
• Fellowship training in Cardiovascular Surgery or Cardiothoracic Surgery required
• Active Texas medical license required
• Current BLS certification required
• Current ACLS certification required
