Locums Pediatric Anesthesia Physician

A major tertiary care hospital in Richmond, Virginia is seeking a Locums Pediatric Anesthesiology Physician to provide ongoing coverage beginning as soon as possible. This opportunity offers a predictable weekday schedule with no nights, weekends, or call responsibilities while caring for pediatric patients in a busy surgical environment.

The ideal candidate is fellowship-trained in Pediatric Anesthesiology and experienced in managing anesthesia for infants and young children undergoing a variety of surgical procedures.

Schedule

• Typical Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
• Additional shift options may include:
• 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
• No weekends
• No night coverage
• No 24-hour call
• No in-house call
• No beeper call

Clinical Responsibilities

• Provide anesthesia services for pediatric surgical patients
• Conduct preoperative evaluations and develop anesthesia plans
• Administer and monitor anesthesia throughout surgical procedures
• Manage postoperative recovery and pain control
• Collaborate with pediatric surgeons, nursing staff, and perioperative teams
• Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation

Case Mix

Primary cases include pediatric patients ranging from approximately 2 days old to 2 years of age, including:

• Hernia repairs
• Pyloric stenosis procedures
• ENT surgeries
• Additional general pediatric surgical cases

Qualifications

• MD or DO required
• Board Certified in Anesthesiology
• Fellowship Training in Pediatric Anesthesiology required
• Active Virginia medical license preferred
• Current DEA registration, if required by facility
