Locums Thoracic Surgery Physician

We are seeking a Board-Certified Thoracic Surgeon to provide locum tenens coverage in Midland, Michigan. This opportunity offers a full scope thoracic surgery practice with a mix of inpatient care, emergency consultations, follow-up visits, and advanced surgical procedures in a well-supported clinical environment.

Position Details

• Schedule: 24-Hour Call Coverage
• Setting: Primarily Inpatient
• EMR: EPIC with Dragon Dictation

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive thoracic surgery coverage, including inpatient consultations, evaluations, and management
• Respond to emergency operative and non-operative thoracic surgery consults
• Perform follow-up visits and ongoing patient management
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient care
• Document patient encounters accurately using EPIC and Dragon

Procedures and Case Mix

• Full scope thoracic surgery
• Esophageal surgery
• Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery (VATS)
• Chest surgery
• Wedge resections
• Robotic thoracic procedures
• Open thoracic surgical cases
• Management of emergent thoracic surgery cases as needed

Requirements

• Board Certified in Thoracic Surgery
• Active Michigan medical license or ability to obtain licensure
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Experience performing both robotic and open thoracic procedures
