A
hospital in Frankfort, KY is seeking a Locums Emergency Medicine Site Medical
Director to provide a combination of clinical leadership and administrative
oversight within its Emergency Department. This is an excellent opportunity for
an experienced Emergency Medicine physician with a strong background in
departmental operations, patient flow optimization, and physician leadership.
The
ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader who can balance direct patient care
with strategic initiatives focused on improving emergency department
efficiency, throughput, quality metrics, and overall operational performance.
Schedule:
- Minimum of 1–2 clinical shifts
per week
- 1 dedicated administrative day
per week

Clinical
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care
within the Emergency Department
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat
patients presenting with acute illnesses and injuries
- Perform emergency procedures as
required
- Collaborate with physicians,
APPs, nursing staff, and hospital leadership
- Ensure delivery of high-quality,
patient-centered emergency care
Administrative
Responsibilities
- Serve as the Emergency Department
Site Medical Director
- Lead operational improvement
initiatives within the ED
- Analyze and improve front-end
processes and patient throughput
- Identify opportunities to enhance
patient flow, reduce wait times, and improve operational efficiency
- Support quality improvement and
patient safety initiatives
- Collaborate with hospital
administration and clinical leadership on strategic goals
- Assist with provider engagement,
performance improvement, and departmental best practices
- Monitor and support compliance
with regulatory and accreditation standards
Qualifications
- MD or DO required
- Board Certified or Board Eligible
in Emergency Medicine
- Active Kentucky medical license
required or ability to obtain
- DEA registration required
- Prior Emergency Department
leadership experience strongly preferred
- Experience serving as a Medical
Director, Assistant Medical Director, or similar leadership role preferred
