Rapid Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

Locum Tenens

We are seeking a dedicated Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide locum tenens coverage in a Rapid Care setting in Martinsburg, West Virginia. This opportunity offers the chance to care for patients with a wide range of acute illnesses and injuries while working alongside a collaborative healthcare team in a fast-paced clinical environment.

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will provide comprehensive patient care through assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of urgent and episodic medical conditions. The APP will collaborate with physicians, specialists, nursing staff, and ancillary team members to develop and implement patient-centered care plans. Responsibilities include performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, coordinating referrals and follow-up care, and ensuring high-quality clinical outcomes.

 

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat acute illnesses and injuries
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including biological, social, and psychological evaluations
  • Order, interpret, and review diagnostic testing
  • Develop and implement treatment plans
  • Perform procedures within scope of practice and credentialing
  • Coordinate care with specialty services when appropriate
  • Provide patient education and discharge instructions
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation
  • Participate in the education of medical, nursing, and advanced practice students as applicable

 

Nurse Practitioner Qualifications

  • Graduate of a CCNE-accredited nursing program with a Master's Degree in Nursing
  • National Certification through a recognized APRN Certification Center
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in West Virginia
  • FNP or ACNP certification preferred
  • Current American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and ATLS certifications required
  • PALS certification encouraged

Physician Assistant Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Graduate of an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant training program
  • NCCPA certification required
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure through the West Virginia Board of Medicine or West Virginia Board of Osteopathic Medicine
  • Current American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and ATLS certifications required
  • BLS, ACLS, and ATLS certifications required
  • PALS certification encouraged

Experience Requirements

  • Acute Care, Urgent Care, or Emergency Medicine experience preferred
  • Eligible new graduates will be considered
  • Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating within a multidisciplinary team
