Locum Tenens

We are seeking an experienced Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) to provide locum tenens coverage at a busy Level I Trauma medical center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside a collaborative anesthesia team while managing a diverse and complex case mix in a high-volume surgical environment.

We are seeking an experienced Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) to provide full-time locum tenens coverage at a busy Level I Trauma medical center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced provider to join a collaborative anesthesia team while caring for a diverse and complex surgical population in a high-volume practice.

 

Position Highlights

  • Schedule: Monday–Friday
  • Primary Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (8-hour shifts)
  • Full-time availability required
  • Flexibility with shift length and work location is required based on staffing needs
  • Providers must be willing to work call, nights, and weekends as part of the coverage schedule

Call Schedule

  • Shared CRNA call rotation
  • Approximately one weekend every other month
  • Saturday and Sunday beeper call

Practice Setting

  • High-volume hospital-based anesthesia practice
  • Approximately 1,200 surgical cases per month
  • Care team model consisting of:
    • 80% independent cases
    • 20% medically directed/supervised cases

Case Mix

Providers will administer anesthesia for a wide variety of surgical specialties, including:

  • General Surgery
  • Orthopedic Surgery
  • Obstetrics & Gynecology
  • Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT)
  • Plastic Surgery
  • Cardiothoracic Surgery
  • Neurosurgery
  • Urology
  • Electrophysiology (EP)
  • Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS)
  • Oncology
  • Dental Surgery
  • Vascular Surgery
  • Thoracic Surgery
  • Gastroenterology

The majority of cases include Orthopedics, General Surgery, OB/GYN, ENT, Plastic Surgery, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Neurosurgery, and Gastroenterology.

Required Clinical Experience

Candidates must be comfortable providing anesthesia for:

  • Adult Level I Trauma
  • Pediatric Level II Trauma
  • Level III NICU
  • Trauma cases
  • Cardiothoracic procedures
  • Obstetrics
  • Pediatric anesthesia (required)

Facility Information

  • Adult Level I Trauma Center
  • Pediatric Level II Trauma Center
  • Level III NICU
  • EMR: Epic (Epic proficiency test-out available)

Qualifications

  • Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA)
  • Board Certified
  • Minimum of two (2) years of CRNA experience (no new graduates)
  • Active Florida CRNA license
  • Current BLS, PALS, and ATLS certifications
  • Pediatric anesthesia experience required
  • Experience with trauma, cardiothoracic, obstetric, and complex surgical cases preferred

Additional Requirements

  • Candidates must reside outside of Florida (Florida-based providers will not be considered).
  • A current out-of-state driver's license must be submitted with the presentation.
  • Full-time availability (4 weeks per month) is required.
  • Providers must be willing to work days, nights, call, and weekends. Day-only availability cannot be accommodated.
  • Rush credentialing is available, with temporary privileges possible in as little as 3–4 weeks for providers with a clean file and an active Florida license.
