Locums Trauma/General Surgery Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

We are seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for a full-time locum tenens Trauma/General Surgery opportunity in Midland, Michigan. This is an ongoing inpatient assignment with a consistent 7-on/7-off night schedule and no call responsibilities.

Position Highlights

• Setting: Inpatient
• Schedule: 7 days on / 7 days off
• Shift: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM (Monday–Sunday)
• No call
• Holiday coverage required only if it falls during your scheduled work week
• Ongoing assignment

Clinical Responsibilities

• Manage inpatient admissions and consults for trauma, general surgery, and urology
• Respond to Level I and Level II trauma activations
• Perform admissions, history & physicals, and surgical consults
• Serve as the first-call provider for inpatient surgical services, including:
• General Surgery
• Trauma
• Orthopedics
• Urology
• Colorectal Surgery
• Evaluate trauma and general surgery patients and collaborate with the on-call surgeon
• Manage urology admissions and consults
• Assist with Foley catheter troubleshooting, continuous bladder irrigation, and bedside urologic procedures
• Board surgical cases as appropriate

Required Procedural Skills

Candidates must be proficient in:

• Suturing
• Central line placement
• Arterial line placement
• Chest tube placement

Qualifications

• Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with Trauma and General Surgery experience
• Active Michigan license (required)
• Current ACLS and ATLS certifications from the American Heart Association
