We are seeking an experienced Locums General Surgery Physician to provide coverage in Berlin, New Hampshire. This opportunity is ideal for a surgeon with a broad rural general surgery background and a strong emphasis on endoscopy. Candidates must be actively performing endoscopic procedures and meet current procedural volume requirements.

 

Assignment Dates

  • November 27, 2026 (8:00 AM) – December 4, 2026 (8:00 AM)
  • December 25, 2026 (8:00 AM) – January 4, 2027 (8:00 AM)

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and manage new and established general surgery patients of all ages.
  • Perform office consultations, minor procedures, and patient education.
  • Provide operative and endoscopic care in both elective and emergency settings.
  • Collaborate with primary care providers and coordinate referrals to tertiary care centers as appropriate.
  • Manage common surgical conditions including:
    • Hernias
    • Gallbladder disease
    • GERD
    • Colon polyps
    • Rectal bleeding
    • Hemorrhoids
    • Diverticulitis
    • Breast conditions
    • Dysphagia
    • Skin lesions and soft tissue masses

Required Procedures

  • Colonoscopy (screening, surveillance, diagnostic, and therapeutic)
  • Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD)
  • Open and laparoscopic general surgery
  • Cholecystectomy
  • Appendectomy
  • Hernia repair
  • Colon surgery
  • Breast surgery and biopsies
  • Hemorrhoid procedures
  • Skin and soft tissue excisions
  • PEG tube placement
  • Debridement and wound procedures
  • Additional general surgery procedures consistent with a rural community practice

Minimum Qualifications

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Surgery
  • Active New Hampshire medical license or ability to obtain licensure
  • Must be actively performing endoscopy
  • Minimum of 100 colonoscopies, including at least 20 polypectomies, within the past 12 months
  • Minimum of 25 EGDs performed within the past 12 months
