A busy Emergency Department in West Palm Beach, Florida is seeking a Locums Board Certified Emergency Medicine Physician to provide PM/Nocturnist coverage. This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly collaborative emergency medicine team while providing high-quality care in a modern, newly renovated department during evening and overnight hours.

 

Position Overview

  • Duration: Ongoing PRN (as needed) with no defined end date
  • Schedule: 12-hour night shifts available
    • 5:00 PM – 5:00 AM
    • 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM
    • 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
  • Minimum Commitment: 4–6 shifts per month
  • Call: No call required

  • Annual Emergency Department Volume: Approximately 60,000 visits
  • 22-bed Emergency Department with recent renovations and advanced imaging technology
  • Patient Volume: Approximately 2–3 patients per hour, depending on shift and census
  • Admission Rate: 17%
  • Pediatric Volume: 15%
  • Critical Care Rate: 9%
  • EMR: Meditech (eMAR and EDM)

Clinical Environment

  • Provide care for a diverse emergency medicine patient population, including adult and pediatric patients
  • Manage a broad range of emergency conditions, from low-acuity complaints to critical care cases
  • Work in a fast-paced environment with strong specialty support and a collaborative team structure

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients presenting with a broad range of emergency medical conditions
  • Perform emergency procedures within the scope of Emergency Medicine practice
  • Stabilize critically ill and injured patients
  • Order and interpret laboratory tests, imaging studies, and diagnostic evaluations
  • Collaborate with emergency physicians, specialists, nursing staff, APPs, and ancillary teams to provide timely, patient-centered care
  • Document patient encounters accurately using the electronic medical record

  • 8 Emergency Medicine Physicians per shift
  • 6 Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) per shift
  • Highly collaborative, multidisciplinary care team

Qualifications

  • Board Certified in Emergency Medicine (ABEM or AOBEM)
  • Active Florida medical license
  • Current DEA registration
  • ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications required
