Locums Cardiac Surgery Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

A leading cardiac surgery program in Bridgeport, Connecticut is seeking an experienced Locums Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide inpatient and operating room support. This is an excellent temp-to-hire opportunity for providers interested in transitioning to a permanent role while working alongside a highly collaborative cardiac surgery team.

Compensation:  $125 Per Hour

Position Highlights

• Temp-to-Hire Opportunity (for interested candidates)
• Schedule: Three 13-hour shifts per week
• Shift Options:
• 7:00 AM – 8:00 PM
• 7:00 PM – 8:00 AM
• Rotating weekends approximately every 3–6 weeks
• Collaborative team of 8 Advanced Practice Providers

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient management of cardiac surgery patients throughout the perioperative continuum
• First assist in the cardiac surgery operating room, when applicable
• Perform postoperative assessments and daily patient rounds
• Manage chest tubes and other postoperative cardiac surgery procedures within scope of practice
• Coordinate care with cardiothoracic surgeons, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary teams
• Document patient encounters using the Epic electronic medical record

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
• Active Connecticut NP or PA license or ability to obtain
• Previous inpatient cardiac surgery experience preferred
• Cardiac Surgery OR first assist experience preferred, but providers with strong inpatient cardiac surgery experience are encouraged to apply
• Experience with chest tube insertion and management required
• Epic EMR experience preferred
