Locums Orthopedic Surgery Physician

A regional medical center in Paducah, Kentucky is seeking a Locums Orthopedic Surgery Physician to provide 24-hour call coverage. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced orthopedic surgeon with strong trauma experience, including hip nailing procedures, to join a collaborative surgical team utilizing Epic EMR.

Position Highlights

• Schedule: 24-hour call coverage (7:00 AM – 7:00 AM)
• Weekend Coverage: Required
• EMR: Epic

Responsibilities

• Provide 24-hour orthopedic call coverage for emergency and inpatient consultations
• Evaluate and treat acute orthopedic injuries and trauma cases
• Perform operative and non-operative orthopedic procedures as indicated
• Manage fractures, dislocations, amputations, bone and joint deformities, and musculoskeletal tumors
• Perform hip fracture fixation, including hip nailing procedures (required)
• Perform total joint replacement, revision, and repair procedures involving the hip, knee, and shoulder
• Perform arthroscopic procedures
• Perform spinal surgery, including cervical, thoracic, and lumbar procedures with and without instrumentation, as clinically appropriate
• Collaborate with emergency medicine physicians, hospitalists, anesthesiologists, nursing staff, and rehabilitation teams to provide high-quality patient care
• Document all patient encounters using the Epic electronic medical record

Qualifications

• Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery
• Completion of an Orthopedic Surgery fellowship
• Active Kentucky medical license or eligibility through the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC)
• Active DEA registration
• Current BLS certification
• COVID-19 vaccination required
• Must have experience performing hip nailing procedures
