Locums Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner

We are seeking an experienced Locums Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to provide inpatient coverage in Springfield, Ohio. This opportunity involves caring for adult and geriatric cardiothoracic and vascular surgery patients in a Level II Trauma Center.

Position Highlights

• Practice Setting: 100% inpatient
• Patient Population: Adult and geriatric
• Average Daily Census: Approximately 20–26 patients
• Trauma Level: Level II
• EMR: Epic

Schedule & Call

• Monday–Friday: 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
• Weekday Floor Call/Beeper Call: 3:00 PM–7:00 AM
• Weekend Coverage: Required
• Saturday & Sunday: 24-hour onsite support with floor call and/or OR call
• Call Types: In-house and beeper/phone call

Responsibilities

• Provide post-operative care for cardiothoracic and vascular surgery patients
• Round on and manage hospitalized patients
• Assist in cardiothoracic and vascular surgical procedures
• Provide emergency surgical support as needed
• Evaluate and manage consults and referrals from the Emergency Department, Cath Lab, and hospital providers
• Perform vein harvesting for cardiac bypass procedures
• Retrieve vascular tissue for use as bypass conduits
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests
• Write prescriptions as appropriate
• Coordinate patient care with surgeons, nursing staff, and other members of the healthcare team

Requirements

• Board Certified Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner
• Vascular Surgery experience required
• Active Ohio license required at the time of submission
• Candidates needing to obtain an Ohio license will not be considered
• Active ACLS certification
• Active DEA registration
