We are seeking an experienced Locums Trauma Surgery Nurse Practitioner or
Physician Assistant to provide coverage in Redding, California. This
opportunity offers a hands-on role in trauma and surgical patient care with
responsibilities that include patient assessment, procedural care, surgical
assisting, and collaboration with the supervising physician and
multidisciplinary care team.
Compensation: $140 Per Hour

Responsibilities
- Obtain patient
histories, perform physical examinations, develop assessments and
diagnoses, and initiate or modify treatment plans within scope of practice
- Manage trauma
and surgical patients, including ongoing evaluation, treatment, and
coordination of care
- Order and
interpret diagnostic studies, laboratory testing, imaging, and therapeutic
services as appropriate
- Recognize and
respond to urgent or emergent clinical situations and initiate life-saving
treatment when necessary
- Perform and
assist with bedside and surgical procedures within credentialed privileges
- Provide patient
and family education regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications,
and ongoing care
- Facilitate
admissions, referrals, discharge planning, and coordination with
appropriate healthcare facilities and community resources
- Prescribe and
administer medications and medical devices as permitted by state law and
scope of practice
- Complete
accurate and timely medical documentation in the electronic medical record
- Provide first
or second surgical assist under the supervision of an approved supervising
physician
- Assist with
robotic-assisted surgery as a bedside assistant, when appropriately
credentialed and trained

- Local
anesthesia
- Laceration
repair, including intermediate repairs
- Dressing
changes
- Drain and
suture removal
- Superficial
wound debridement and wound closure
- Basic
management of non-displaced fractures
- Fracture
reduction with minimal to moderate displacement
- Reduction of
simple dislocations
- Removal of
superficial foreign bodies
- Hemostasis and
packing placement/removal
- Incision and
drainage
- Cervical spine
clearance
- Chest tube
insertion and removal
- Arterial line
insertion
- Central line
insertion
- Partial-thickness
burn management involving less than 10% of body surface area

Requirements
- Active California
NP or PA license
- Active DEA
- Current ACLS
and ATLS certifications
- Trauma surgery,
acute care surgery, or relevant surgical experience strongly preferred
