Locums Cardiology Nurse Practitioner

We are seeking a Board-Certified Locums Cardiology Nurse Practitioner to provide 100% inpatient cardiology coverage in Mechanicsville, Virginia. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Cardiology NP who is comfortable working independently alongside an Interventional Cardiologist.

Position Highlights

• Start Date: September 8, 2026
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:30 PM
• Patient Population: Adult and geriatric
• Setting: 100% inpatient
• Daily Patient Volume: Approximately 10–15+ patients, depending on volume
• EMR: Epic
• Trauma Level: None

Call Coverage

• Weeknight and weekend first call
• Call Ratio: 1:3 to 1:4
• Average Callback: Approximately 2 hours

Responsibilities

• Provide independent inpatient cardiology care alongside an Interventional Cardiologist
• Evaluate new cardiology patients and perform follow-up visits
• Conduct inpatient rounding and manage ongoing patient care
• Develop and coordinate treatment plans
• Complete timely clinical documentation in Epic
• Manage discharge planning and coordinate transitions of care
• Communicate with patients, families, consultants, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team
• Provide first-call coverage for cardiology patients during assigned weeknights and weekends

Requirements

• Board Certified Nurse Practitioner
• Active Virginia license
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications
• Active DEA registration
