Locums Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician

We are seeking a Locums Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician to provide inpatient, clinic, and 24/7 call coverage in Steubenville, Ohio. The physician will provide comprehensive cardiovascular and thoracic surgical care, including management of inpatients and emergent surgical procedures.

Position Highlights

• Urgent Coverage Dates: September 5, 7:00 AM – September 14, 7:00 AM
• Setting: Inpatient & Clinic
• Weekday Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–5:00 PM
• Weekday Night Call: 5:00 PM–7:00 AM
• Weekend Call: Saturday & Sunday, 24-hour call, 7:00 AM–7:00 AM
• Call: 24/7
• Average Inpatient Census: 4–6 CT surgery patients
• Average Clinic Volume: 10–12 patients/day
• Surgical Volume: Approximately 1–2 CABG cases/week and 5–7 other surgical cases/week
• EMR: Meditech

Responsibilities

• Round on inpatients on the Cardiothoracic Surgery service.
• Provide 24/7 call coverage for emergent cardiovascular and thoracic surgical cases.
• Evaluate and manage patients requiring urgent surgical intervention.
• Perform required procedures at the facility; patients requiring emergent procedures should be treated onsite rather than transferred to another facility.
• Provide CABG and thoracic surgical care.
• Manage vascular cases when within the physician’s scope and experience; vascular experience is a bonus but not required.
• Provide limited outpatient clinic coverage for patients requiring evaluation during the regular surgeon’s absence.
• Collaborate with hospital staff and other providers to ensure timely, high-quality patient care.

Requirements

• Board Certification highly preferred
• Board Eligibility required
• Active Ohio medical license – REQUIRED
• ACLS – REQUIRED
• Demonstrated experience with CABG and thoracic surgery
