We are seeking an
experienced Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) for a locums
Urgent Care opportunity in Richmond, Virginia. This position is ideal for an
APP who is comfortable working independently, treating a wide range of acute
and episodic conditions, and performing common urgent care procedures.

- Schedule: Clinics are
open 7 days a week, 8:00 AM–8:00 PM
- Shift Length: 12+ hour
shifts, depending on patient flow
- Providers are expected to see all
patients who arrive during clinic operating hours
- Call Coverage: No call
required
- EMR: Epic
- Patient Acuity: Episodic and
urgent care cases; higher-acuity patients requiring additional care will
be stabilized and referred or transferred to the appropriate higher level
of care, including the Emergency Department

Duties & Procedures
The Physician
Assistant or Nurse Practitioner should be comfortable performing and managing:
- Laceration repair, including simple,
intermediate, and complex suturing or stapling
- Incision and drainage (I&D),
including packing
- Foreign body removal
- Minor burn management
- Skin lesion care
- Orthopedic injury evaluation and
stabilization
- Splinting and casting
- Joint reductions
- Diagnostic and point-of-care testing
- X-ray interpretation
- EKG evaluation and interpretation
- Point-of-care lab interpretation,
including rapid strep, flu, COVID-19, RSV, urinalysis, and blood glucose
testing
- Epistaxis management, including anterior
nasal packing and chemical cautery with silver nitrate
- Cerumen impaction removal
- Airway support, including administration
of nebulizer treatments and initial emergency stabilization
- Recognition, stabilization, and
appropriate transfer of patients requiring a higher level of care
Requirements
- Board Certified Physician Assistant or
Nurse Practitioner
- Active Virginia license
- BLS certification required
- Active DEA
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in an
Emergency Department, Emergency Room, primary care, or urgent care setting
