Locum Tenens

We are seeking a Locums Psychiatry Physician for a long-term, part-time opportunity providing psychiatric care to developmentally disabled patients with co-occurring mental health disorders. This position is ideal for a compassionate psychiatrist who enjoys working with a multidisciplinary team and diverse patient population.

Position Highlights

  • Approximately 16 hours per week, with some flexibility
  • In-person office-based position — no remote option
  • Long-term opportunity due to the departure of a current provider
  • Compensation: $ $220 - $230 per hour, depending on experience
  • Approximately 6–10 patients per 7.5-hour day, depending on new evaluations and follow-ups

 

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and mental status examinations
  • Diagnose and provide ongoing medication management
  • Prescribe and manage medications, including controlled substances
  • Develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with clinical staff
  • Treat adult and pediatric patients with developmental disabilities and co-occurring mental health conditions
  • Common diagnoses include anxiety, depression, intermittent explosive disorder, disruptive mood disorder, OCD, schizoaffective disorder, and bipolar disorder
  • Review labs, diagnostic studies, and consultations as appropriate
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists, clinicians, case managers, and other members of the care team
  • Provide education and support to families and caregivers
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation
  • Participate in quality improvement and case review activities as needed
  • Complete legal or court-related documentation when required, including a small number of JV-220 cases

 

Requirements

  • Active California Medical License
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Adult and/or Child Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology
  • Board certification strongly preferred; Board Eligible candidates will be considered
  • Board certification must be obtained within 5 years of residency
  • Must be comfortable treating pediatric patients
  • Eligible for Medicare and Medi-Cal certification
  • Authorized to prescribe controlled substances
  • Flu vaccination required, or approved medical/religious exemption
  • COVID-19 vaccination required, or approved medical/religious exemption
  • Ability to document hours through the required timekeeping platform
