Locums Hospital Medicine Physician

We are seeking a Locums Hospital Medicine Physician to provide on-site nighttime coverage at a large tertiary care hospital in Fort Pierce, Florida. This opportunity offers a 7-on/7-off schedule in a clinically complex environment serving a diverse patient population across the Treasure Coast.

 

Schedule & Practice Details

·       Duration of Need: Indefinite

·       Shift Schedule: 7 days on / 7 days off

·       Shift Length: 12 hours

·       Coverage: On-site night coverage

·       EMR: Not specified

·       Hospital Size: 500+ beds

·       Hospital Medicine Census: 250+ patients

·       Patient Load: Approximately 18–22 patients per physician

·       Daily Admissions: 3–5 per daytime rounding physician

·       Consults: Approximately 0–1 per day

·       Facility Designations: Level II Trauma Center and Stroke Center

·       Patient Population: Clinically complex and socioeconomically diverse

 

Responsibilities

·       Provide nighttime inpatient hospital medicine care.

·       Evaluate and manage hospitalized patients with a broad range of acute and complex medical conditions.

·       Coordinate patient care with daytime hospitalists, specialists, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals.

·       Participate in ICU rounds in collaboration with the Critical Care team, which serves as the primary ICU team.

·       Respond to clinical changes and support continuity of care throughout the shift.

·       Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation.

 

Requirements

·       Board-certified or board-eligible physician trained in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.

·       Hospital medicine experience preferred.

·       Procedural skills are appreciated but not required.

·       Ventilator management and independent procedural skills are not required.
