Locums Hospital Medicine Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner

A hospital in Denver, Colorado, is seeking an experienced Hospital Medicine Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for nocturnal coverage. This position will focus on cross-covering a less acute subset of inpatient medical patients in the Main Tower of an approximately 520-bed hospital.

The APP will manage routine inpatient cross-coverage needs while working alongside physicians who cover higher-acuity units and specialty services.

Schedule & Coverage

• 7 nights on / 7 nights off
• 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• On-site overnight coverage
• No call responsibilities
• ASAP start
• Assignment continues until a permanent provider is hired
• Orientation includes one EMR training day and 1–2 shadow nights

Hospital & Patient Details

• Approximately 520 beds
• Cross-cover census of approximately 100 patients
• Main Tower coverage only
• Typical inpatient medical cases with a less acute patient population
• Admissions are generally not required; may assist with 1–2 simple admissions or consults on exceptionally busy nights
• Trauma center; trauma surgery manages trauma patients

Responsibilities

• Provide overnight cross-coverage for assigned inpatient medical patients.
• Evaluate and manage routine patient care needs and overnight clinical issues.
• Respond to patient changes in condition and coordinate care with the supervising physician as needed.
• Assist with simple admissions or consults when necessary.
• Document patient encounters and care plans in the EMR.

Requirements

• Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
• Minimum 2 years of inpatient hospitalist experience.
• Prior APP inpatient hospitalist experience required.
• Active Colorado medical license required at the time of presentation.
• IMLC is not accepted for this facility; providers must hold Colorado licensure.
